The Macquarie Private Equity Trust was established to give investors with $30,000 or more the opportunity to invest in developing companies.
The trust focused on:
- unlisted privately-owned and selected listed companies that offer good prospects for capital growth over three to seven years
- later-stage companies that are already established (rather than providing seed or start-up venture capital).
The Macquarie Private Equity Trust is not open to new investments.

- Service Corporation International Australia Pty Ltd
- SMS - Sausage Software
- Space Health Clubs

An example of past performance
Hermes Precisa (HPA), an initial investee company, was successfully listed on the Australian Stock Exchange. It gave investors a distribution of $0.095 per unit, representing a return of almost 20% pa over 18 months.
Previous Macquarie private equity offerings have recorded internal rate of return of 28.5% (weighted average returns after performance fees) compared with an increase in the All Ordinaries Accumulation Index of 16.0% over a similar period (compound annualised return).
